ANDREA CANNING
Correspondent/Producer, "Good Morning America Weekend"

Andrea Canning is a New York-based correspondent and producer for "Good Morning America Weekend." She also contributes to "Good Morning America," "World News Saturday and Sunday" and ABC's overnight and early morning broadcasts, "World News Now" and "World News This Morning."

Prior to "Good Morning America," Ms. Canning reported for Newsone in Washington DC, ABC's affiliate service, providing live and packaged news reports for 180 ABC affiliates around the country, as well as more than 30 domestic and international clients, including BBC, NHK, Fuji, ARD/Germany and CTV Canada.

Since joining ABC News in 2004, Ms. Canning has covered news from around the country, including the immigration debate, Zacarias Moussaoui's trial, the Iraq War and Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast.

Prior to joining ABC News, she reported for ABC affiliate WCPO in Cincinnati and co-anchored the 5:30 p.m. newscast. From 2000-2001 she covered a wide range of issues for WPTV, the NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, FL, reporting on the anthrax scare at the National Enquirer buildings, Hurricanes Floyd, Irene and Gabrielle, the Elian Gonzales case and the aftermath of the 2000 presidential election.

From 1997-99 Ms. Canning worked for CKVR Television in Barrie, Ontario as a reporter and the 6:00 p.m. world and national news anchor. Prior to that, from 1996-97, she was an assignment editor and field producer for the television show "Extra."

Ms. Canning graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Western Ontario in London and studied Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto. She plays competitive tennis and has downhill ski-raced with the Canadian National Ski Academy. She was born in Blue Mountain, Ontario.
